Discover the Sahara and Berber heritage on this 3-day 4×4 adventure from Djerba. Cross the Grand Erg Oriental, spend a night in a desert camp at the foot of Mount Tembaine, ride camels in Ksar Ghilane, and explore troglodyte villages and ancient ksour.
The journey also includes cultural highlights of Djerba such as Guellala, Houmt Souk, and the El Ghriba Synagogue.

Itinerary
From Djerba to the Heart of the Sahara
Day 1
Departure from Djerba at 7:00 AM toward Douz by ferry.
Visit a traditional troglodyte house in Matmata (Star Wars film set).
Visit the Berber Museum in the village of Tamezret.
Arrival in Douz and lunch with a local family.
4x4 drive across the sand dunes to the desert camp at the foot of Mount Tembaine.
Dinner and overnight in a comfortable desert camp (private tents).

Day 2
After breakfast:
Off-road drive toward Ksar Ghilane, crossing the Grand Erg Oriental.
Camel ride in the dunes.
Visit of the Roman fort.
Departure toward the Berber region.
Visit of Chenini village.
Visit and lunch in the village of Guermassa.
Visit of Ksar Ouled Soltane.
Visit of Ksar Beni Khedache.
Dinner and overnight in a troglodyte guesthouse.
Culture & Heritage of Djerba
Day 3
Return to Djerba via the Roman Road.
Visit of Guellala village and its museum.
Lunch at a seafood restaurant.
Visit of El Ghriba Synagogue, home to one of the oldest Torah scrolls in the world.
Free time in Houmt Souk.
Drop-off at your accommodation in Djerba.
